Sunday Sketches

Some stuff I drew in church today. Put the white in with Photoshop.

First sketch is a sexy Bactrian Camel - wearing a brazier. Yup.
Top sketch is from a photo - it's kinda what I think Gladys' dad would look like.
So then I drew Gladys... not as good. Having photo reference really helps.
Then a random kid, and then another random kid.
And some notes and bitchy-BS.

Medi-Scoot Photo Shoot

So Jaqui and I took some photos in the snow that fell the night previous in our stupid Team Fortress 2 costumes.
:D
It was funtimes.

This is where we shot. This is a real sign. If you've ever played the game you will get this.

It was COLD

Ain't I a stinker?
This is a GOOD IDEA.

Good bye~

Catharsis

NOTE: Clicking the left arrow doesn't work. I am currently trying to fix this. Please use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate. You have to click into the Flash field first, and then they work.
Follow the link below.

There's nothing so bitter as eating your own words.
This actually hearkens back to a little exchange that popped into my head one night while creating Gladys as a character. It made me really sad... but that's for another day.

WARNING: If you feel happy, reading this comic may change that. Permanently.

WHAT IS ANATOMY
WHAT IS CONSISTENCY
WHAT IS CONTRAST
*HEAD DESK*

I'm a little appalled at this, really. But I worked too long and too hard on this to not show it to others. I did this as a bit of art therapy... but let's just say that is is how I used to feel, and not really how I feel now. Which is good. (Let's see how long that lasts lol.)
Which is why I used Gladys. I mean, this comic wasn't completely just about her to begin with, but it was also never fully about me either.
But it's honesty. This is an honest work and I wish I could have done it better.

And, UGH, how do I sound this without sounding like a monumental loser? Gladys is a lot more than just an RP character... she's more of a weird manifestation of my subconsciousness; or as Rachel so aptly described her, she's my uninhibited id. But she's still her own person, so don't worry, I'm not about to become an axe murderer.

Learning how to action script in Flash was fun. And by "fun" I mean kind of a pain? Yeah.

Apologies:
For the "LOL gradients" and "LOL star-field." And for the angst. So. Much. Angst. *HEAD DESK*
And to anyone who might be disturbed or concerned for their mental well being or mine after reading this. The most common reaction I've gotten from my test readers has been "AAAUUUGH."
And for gratuitous use of ellipsis.
And all other grammatical errors.

Drawn first in pencil
Fixed up somewhat in Photoshop
Compiled in InDesign and Flash
And of course lots of *HEAD DESK*

Art Summary 2009

This is a meme that's been floating around teh interwebs.
:>

HOORAY.

MEME BLANK HERE.

Now that I look at this... it's like: consistency? direction? What's that?
Do I have any idea what I'm doing? Gouache landscapes, acrylic comics, ink and paint cards, digital poop, what am I trying to do here?

And let's just say that January feels like two years ago.
:\

Winter Semester
JAN: Schoolwork; experimenting with acrylic paint and comics.
FEB: Schoolwork; more acrylic comics.
MAR: Schoolwork; ink and gouache, experimented with paper size/format.
APR: Schoolwork; Flash drawn comic written by my friend Will Strong.

Art Block Tiems! 8D
MAY: The start of the stuff I did because I wanted to do it. Birthday card for my sister, acrylic ink and gouache.
JUN: Just about the only thing I did in June - little gouache landscape.
JUL: Airdramon Costume for SanDiego Comic Con. Worked on this all summer, but the biggest push was during July. Photo credit goes to Kobb. C: http://kobb.deviantart.com/
AUG: Started getting comfortable drawing in Tegaki-E, and started to nail down how I draw Gladys.

Fall Semester (and continuation of Art Block BAW)
SEP: BEEEEEE! Schoolwork; but still one of my favorite things I've done. I lost my studio space so I did all my assignments digitally Fall Semester.
OCT: Schoolwork; not my favorite, but I still had fun with it. LOOK! COLOR! :O
NOV: Schoolwork; Tessaaaaa - had fun character designing, but the painting has lighting problems.
DEC: Schoolwork; THAT BACKGROUND IS TOTALLY NOT A PHOTO... OK it is. :C Despite the problems, there's still a lot I like about it.

That's all folks!
To another year!
